Transport Tycoon supports
learning about the British transport revolution of the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries in a dynamic and interactive electronic learning
environment.
The thirty sections cover turnpike roads, canals and canal mania, the
road engineers, railways and railway mania. In each case students are
given an historical scenario and the choices that would have faced people
at the time, together with relevant contextual information and four
possible solutions. Each of these solutions, when chosen, provides an
aggregating financial reward, together with feedback on the success,
or otherwise, of the choice. As students progress through the programme
they will acquire a developing understanding of the dynamics of the
transport revolution as well as improved decision making skills.
